If you are a lover to antique stuff—especially from the Dutch Indies in Southeast Asia—you must come to Bartele Gallery in Kemang area. You can find over 4,000 collections of antiquities such as maps, paintings, drawing on paper, home decoration or private collections that are over 500 years old!

This gallery can be the only one that dedicated to sell the original and antique maps in Jakarta. The owner, Bartele Santema, was persistent to collect the historical objects from the colonial and the post-colonial era. This also made Bartele Gallery can be found in Bali and Netherlands as well.

To establish this gallery in 2009, Bartele Santema who is also a famous writer of “Bule Gila” book and owner of a number of bars and restaurants in Indonesia, collaborated with David E. Parry, a cartographer and writer of “The Cartography of the East Indian Island” then later then becomes the curator of the gallery. The second gallery was born in 2013 in Bali, then the third one opens in Langweer Friesland, Netherlands on the following year. Isn’t it interesting?
