Facts about the New Commemorative Money

Right on the 75th anniversary of Indonesia, on Monday (17/8), Bank Indonesia (BI) issued new money in the Rp 75,000 denomination.

Right on the 75th anniversary of Indonesia, on Monday (17/8), Bank Indonesia (BI) issued new money in the Rp 75,000 denomination. What is so interesting about the special money for Indonesian Independence Day? Here is the explanation:
 
A. Meaning / General Philosophies
Through a press release, Bank Indonesia provided explanations of the Rp. 75,000 issuance for the emission year 2020, as a form of gratitude and sharing happiness to all Indonesians.
 
The Rp. 75,000 money is also a Commemorative Money for the 75th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence. In addition, the money has 3 (three) major themes in its design which contain several meanings, including:
 
1. Grateful for independence
  • Photo of Dr. (H.C.) Ir Soekarno and Dr. (H.C.) Drs. Mohammad Hatta.
  • Flying the Flag of the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence on 17 August 1945.
  • The achievement of Indonesia's development, especially in the infrastructure sector, through the images of Trans-Java Toll Road, the Youtefa Papua Bridge, and the Jakarta Integrated Mode Raya (MRT).
2. Welcoming a Glorious Future
  • Indonesian children as the next generation of superior human resources who are ready to realize Golden Indonesia 2045.
  • A map of Golden Indonesia on a globe that symbolizes Indonesia's strategic role in the global realm.
  • The Red and White Satellite as a communication bridge for the Republic of Indonesia.
 
3. Strengthening Diversity
  • Children wear traditional clothes representing the western, central and eastern regions of the Republic of Indonesia
  • Songket motifs from South Sumatra, Javanese Kawung batik, and Gringsing Balinese weaving, depicting elegance, kindness, and sanctity.
 
B. Characteristics of the Money
The Rp. 75,000 money have characteristics on both the front and the back.
 
1. Front
  • Main image of National Hero Dr. (H.C.) Ir. Soekarno and Dr. (H.C.) Drs. Mohammad Hatta.
  • The two flower logos with the BI stamp will change color and have the effect of dynamic motion when viewed from a different perspective.
  • The print on the words "Seventy-Five Thousand Rupiah", the hero image, the nominal money, and the reading guideline feels rough when touched.
  • BI logo that is visible when exposed to the light.
  • Prints that shine when viewed with ultraviolet light.
 
2. Back
  • Images of Indonesian children in traditional clothing.
  • Serial number which includes 3 (three) letters and 6 (six) numbers.
  • The print on the picture of Indonesian children, the Indonesian map image, and the writing on the bottom of the money feels rough when touched.
  • BI logo that is visible when exposed to the light.
  • Prints that shine when viewed with ultraviolet light.
 
C. Exchange Terms
The requirements that must be met if you want to exchange Rp 75.000 money include:
  • Indonesians who already have an identity card (KTP).
  • Have a National Identity Card (KTP). Every 1 (one) KTP can only be exchanged to obtain 1 (one) of the 75th Indonesian Independence Commemoration Money with a nominal Rp 75,000.
 
D. Exchange Mechanism
 
1. To get 75,000 Indonesian Independence Day money, people can exchange Rp 75,000 in cash with 1 (one) piece of UPK 75 RI which has a nominal value of Rp 75,000.
 
2. Before making an exchange, people must order an online exchange schedule and location on the PINTAR app on the Bank Indonesia website via pintar.bi.go.id.
 
3. People place an online exchange order by filling the order form on the PINTAR app on the Bank Indonesia website via pintar.bi.go.id (cannot be downloaded via Play Store or App Store).
 
4. The exchange order period, schedule, and location of the exchange consist of 2 (two) stages:
  • Phase 1 exchange order period (17 August 2020 at 15.00 WIB to 30 September 2020), with the exchange at Bank Indonesia Head Office (KP) and 45 Domestic Bank Indonesia Representative Offices (KPwDN) in all provinces and several County towns;
  • Phase 2 exchange order period (1 October 2020 to finished), with the exchange at Bank Indonesia (KP and KPwDN) and designated Commercial Banks.
 
5. Exchange can be made at:
  • Bank Indonesia Head Office and 45 Bank Indonesia Domestic Representative Offices starting from 18 August 2020 to 30 September 2020;
  • Designated Commercial Banks and Bank Indonesia Head Office and 46 Bank Indonesia Domestic Representative Offices as of 1 October 2020 to finished.
 
6. In exchange to get the 75th Commemorative Money for the Anniversary of Indonesian Independence., there are several requirements that must be met by exchangers:
  • Has made an order through PINTAR app;
  • Bring the original Identity Card (KTP);
  • Bring proof of order in hardcopy or digital form;
  • Make an exchange at the time and location that has been chosen as stated on the proof of order;
  • The name and NIK data listed on the order proof correspond to the original KTP that is brought at the time of exchange.
 
7. Exchange can be done at the earliest 1 (one) day after the order is made, as long as the capacity for the exchange of UPK 75 Indonesian Independence at the time and location chosen is still available.
 
8. The exchange period at Bank Indonesia starts on 18 August 2020 until all the Commemorative Money is exchanged by people.
 
9. The exchange at Bank Indonesia can be done at 08.00-11.00 local time at the Domestic Representative Office (KPwDN) of Bank Indonesia. In the exchange ordering app, people can choose exchange times as follows:
  • 08.00-09.00 local time
  • 09.00-10.00 local time
  • 10.00-11.00 local time
 
10. The exchange period at Commercial Banks appointed by Bank Indonesia starts on 1 October 2020 until all Commemorative Money is exchanged by people.
 
11. Bank Indonesia has appointed 5 (five) commercial banks, Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI, BCA, and CIMB Niaga to serve people exchanging the Commemorative Money.
 
12. Commercial bank branches as the location of Commemorative Money exchange can be seen on the app menu when choosing an exchange location.
