Even though it has been more than a year since its premiere in theaters, until now Gundala still receives positive reviews from film critics. Including recently, the original Indonesian superhero film was reviewed on the Golden Globes site in an article. The Golden Globes website is a home to information on the Golden Globe Awards, an annual awards ceremony for American cinema and television people.
“Gundala has provided Bumilangit Cinematic Universe a successful genre-mixing formula that combines wall-to-wall martial arts action sequences, humor and mythologies," said author Ting Ting Xiu in the article (29/10/20).
In addition, Gundala has also been premiered on Japanese cinemas since 13 November 2020. In September, Gundala has already premiered in South Korean cinemas.
Previously, in August 2020, President of Marvel Studios and Head of Marvel's Creative Division, Kevin Feige, gives support for Joko Anwar and Bumilangit Cinematic Universe (BCU).
Meanwhile, there are two BCU films being worked on, Virgo and the Sparklings, and Sri Asih. Bumilangit tries to revive comics with the theme of heroism in Indonesia, as well as become a family for the creators of the early generation until now.
