Health Issues Happen When You Sit Down All Day Long

Some unavoidable factor forcing you to spend more hours of sitting in chair daily, whether you work from home or in an office. It is unfortunate that sitting for too long increases risk of chronic health issues, mainly for people are not eating right foods, not drinking enough water, and getting physical exercise. As we summarized from vary resources, here are number of health issues happen when you sit down all day long.

1. Back Pain
Sitting at a computer for long hours each day leads to back pain. Unsupported sitting position, poor posture leading to pain. Joan Vernikos on his book Sitting Kills, Moving Heals explained human body is not designed to sit in a chair for such long period of time.
 
Then the rule number one is change your position frequently. To ensure you are using good position, sit up straight with your shoulder relaxed, not rounded or hunched. Take couple minutes break every 30 minutes, at least get up and do light stretching. Last but not least, ensure you are sitting at the right height with forearms run parallel to table as well as your feet touch the floor to help you keep your shoulder in a neutral position.

2. Low Back Pain
Due to poor posture, sitting too long causing low back pain. Oftentimes, prolonged sitting reduces blood flow because muscles are not moving—contracting and relaxing. A very simple way to protect your lower back is avoid sitting in the same position for more than 30 minutes. When taking short break, stretch your leg out to keep blood flow exchange.

3. Overweight
WebMD.com explained sitting too long can affect your weight even if you exercise. Doctor Barry Braun explained as long as you sit, you may be hungry for no reasons even when your energy stores are full. When you are eating more food than is needed and not exercising, fat sits under the skin, belly, and thighs. If you know that your spend a long day of sitting, give your muscles some love through light exercise or stretching to help losing excess body fat.
