The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Jakarta has installed free internet facilities through JakWiFi program. One of the purposes of this program is to support the teaching and learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic.
JakWiFi is planned to be installed in all Citizens Associations in Jakarta, especially in densely populated neighborhoods. Currently, there are at least 9,000 JakWiFi spots spread across the capital. It is hoped that free internet access will not only be used by students, but also people who run businesses.
The Provincial Government of Jakarta has launched this program since August 2020. JakWiFi is a program to provide free WiFi facilities in areas that are not covered by free internet service.
Launching the official website of Jakarta Smart City, JakWiFi access spot can be found using JAKI app which can be downloaded on Google Play Store and Apple Store. Here's easy ways to access JakWiFi:
Install JAKI app.
Open JakWiFi feature in the main menu. After that, an interactive map will appear showing JakWiFi spots.
To find the nearest JakWiFi spot, make sure GPS feature on your smartphone has been activated. Then, tap "scan this area". After scanning, JakWiFi spots will appear on the map. To find out the distance between your location and JakWiFi point, slide the screen down a little.
To be able to use JakWiFi, you only need to go to the nearest JakWiFi point and connect your device with the available JakWiFi connection.
