Indonesian cellular world got latest news. One of the Indonesian biggest cellular phone operators, Indosat, has a new identity by changing its name into Indosat Ooredoo. This is because Indosat’s largest shareholder, the telecommunication company Qatar Tel had renamed itself with Ooredoo. So all of its subsidiaries also change their names, gradually.

The name Ooredoo itself came from Arabic meaning “I want to”. It reflects the customers’ desire and Ooredoo’s belief to improve the quality of life through services provided by the company.

One of the purposes for Ooredoo to change the names of cellular operators in many countries is to gain world recognition of the company’s name. Besides, it also saves cost in promotion and marketing. Currently Ooredoo holds about 65% stakes of Indosat, while the government holds only around 15% of its shares. The rest of it is publicly owned. By carrying the hashtag #IndonesiaDigitalNation on its launching, Indosat Ooredoo aims to serve a better digital life to all. Cool!
