Do you like selfie? Let’s take a look of the results. Which side of your face you show often while taking selfie, right or left one? According to research by a senior lecturer in experimental neuropsychology at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia, Annukka Lindell from thousand selfies show most people are showing their left sides, why?
From 2,000 samples of selfies observed by Lindell, 779 photos, equivalent with 41 percent of total photos showed left side of the face. She said tendency to do same pose repeatedly show that people are aware which side looks more attractive while taking selfies.
This side bias phenomenon shows that left side of the face considered more interesting because related to the human emotions. The left side of the face shows more expression specifically when people smiling. It simply because left side of the face is a ‘home’ for special muscles to draw emotions (happy smiling, big smiling, and so forth).
This is supported by the evidence that 60 percent of painting in 14th century showed left side of the face of its models including Monalisa by Leonardo da Vinci. So, which side is your favourite, right or left one?
