Minecraft, a sandbox video game developed by Mojang, become the most-watched game on YouTube in 2019. The game designed by Markus Persson has been watched 100.2 billion times.

Minecraft's popularity shot up on YouTube thanks to Swedish YouTuber and comedian PewDiePie who made content about this game. Starting on June 22, 2019, the gamer with his real name Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg released video content on his YouTube titled Minecraft Part 1 and has been watched more than 35 million times. After PewDiePie released the video, videos related to Minecraft on YouTube are increasingly watched.

That way, Minecraft is once again ranked first as the most-watched game-themed video. Since then, PewDiePie began to regularly upload his Minecraft videos. The Minecraft video of a man born in Gothenburg, Sweden has become viral because PewDiePie previously made jokes about Minecraft and claimed he would not play that game.

Another factor is also because Minecraft, which has almost turned a decade old, makes its fans owant to reminisce. As a result, YouTube has become a 'place' for them to get back to watching this game.

Apart from Minecraft, there are also other games that made it to the list of the most-watched videos on YouTube during 2019. One of them is Fortnite who made it into second place. This game has been watched 60.9 billion times. In third place, there’s Grand Theft Auto 5 has been watched 36.9 billion times.

Minecraft is a game that is already familiar to game lovers. Because of its popularity, until the end of this year, more than 180 million copies has been sold from all platforms including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Minecraft has active players up to a total of 112 million people.
