Recently, Twitter has confirmed that they are developing a new feature called "Birdwatch," which could cause Twitter community to warn each other about misleading (misinformation) tweets of harmful nature.

A tweet can be added to Birdwatch and later flagged for moderation. There will also be a small binocular icon in the tweet that is tweeted. Clicking on the icon will take the user to a section where they can view their tweet history.

Launching Antara, a new tab called Birdwatch Notes will be added to the navigation menu on your Twitter account which contains Lists, Topics, Bookmarks, and Moments. Through this feature, users can check their contribution to fighting misinformation. Additional contexts will also be open to the public.

Unfortunately, it is not yet known whether all Twitter users will get this access or not. Or, whether adding context requires prior approval or only for certain users.

In recent months, Twitter has taken a strong stance against misleading tweets, hoax or inflammatory in nature. In a recent upload, Twitter stated that they would soon launch a warning feature for all its users to read articles before retweeting.
